Matthew 25:35 tells us For I was hungry and you fed me. I was thirsty and you gave me drink. I was a stranger and you took me in.
Thanksgiving morning, First Southern Baptist Church, Buckeye had the privilege of taking the church to Benbow Park to do just that! Around 60 volunteers of all ages eagerly greeted guests through the morning as they assisted them with finding much needed clothing, serving them a hot meal, and pouring them a tasty beverage. Between people clothed, meals served, and volunteers, we had over 300 people benefit from the generous hospitality of FSBC. We exceeded the requested amounts of food items and volunteers needed!
Additionally, Gary Dodrill aided us in securing a $200 grant from Estrella Baptist Association and a $500 grant from Arizona Southern Baptist Convention. These grants were utilized to cover the cost of additional consumables purchased for the event that the church usually pays for, as well as many blankets and warm clothing. A portion of the funding was reserved to purchase requested clothing items for those in need when items were not on the site. We are grateful for everyone who helped to make this event worthwhile. A special thanks goes to Hickman’s for the 45 dozen eggs and Café 25:35 for allowing us to utilize their kitchen to wash our dishes! Anther success for this ministry!
